almost all USAC races in CO require me to drive at LEAST an hour each way.
kinda sucks.
the 2-3 a year i can ride to are so refreshing.

Another FL suburbanite here- I can think of maybe 1-2 races during the season that I could ride to. The rest are 1-4 hours away (one way).
I used to have a 3/4 ton crew cab truck and would let pretty much anyone ride with me as long as they chipped in and covered fuel and their share of hotel costs. If you need transportation, become friends with some of the local racers and politely ask if you guys can work something out.

OP - if money is part of your issue, I can also tell you that if I am going somewhere anyway I generally figure that an extra passenger makes no difference in my car, so I don't need to take their gas and toll money when I was going to pay it anyway. I get some sense of hospitality and friendliness associated with doing a favor without expecting compensation, so I generally refuse offers. (Not that requesting, expecting or requiring a passenger to contribute is at all wrong.) Some people feel better when they are able to chip in, so if they insist, I'll take the money.
Let us know how it works out for you.

Thanks for all the great info, I'm not a minor I'm 19 and I do take the release forms seriously. I also live only 10 miles from the Encino velodrome, and I ride a fixed gear bike for now, but I want to start road racing first. I know about the rose bowl peloton I plan to go to the rides and I'm sure I'll meet some racers there. There are a few racers in my local club that I ride with I'll get to know them better and hopefully work something out.
