This was 12 miles from my win. The other 50 riders were shelled. I don't know why, but nobody could hurt me that day

so what's wrong with a little suffering. Is that not what they make Heart Rate Monitors for.?

I think I was reaching for a crossword puzzle.
Racer Ex told me I was having a "no chain day." He was right in saying that I'll be chasing that feeling. I don't know why I just felt so strong that day. Oreos? The bunny I ran over in the dark on the way to the race? Dunno.

who doesnt suffer in races? i thought that was the whole point
the only time i dont suffer is when im off the back about to get pulled behind some fred in a rain jacket. thats when its a picture of me embarressed. at least i was ahead of my teammate. i guess.
and before i get mismatched comments, i was running behind that morning, and grabbed the first cold gear i could find.

not technically a race, but it's the only thing i have pics of me from.
last years maratona, on the 3rd climb of the day, shouting 'photo, photo, photo!' to a photographer.

Thats me in the middle of the pack just watching. It was one of those very easy days. Ended up finishing 4th.

This is from a few years ago. I was mucking about with the guy on the camera bike. I took his lunch from his pocket and he didn't know yet. You can sort of see it in my jersey pocket.
Dang, I forget how to insert the mondo large photos again.

The guy on the front looks to be in a spot of bother. That's what I look like in a race from the start to the finish. When I race, that is, which will not be anytime soon this year!

Nice pic Rockets - you look like you're out for a Sunday cruise. Is that Greg in the VC jersey with the pained look? Just rode with him on Sunday. That's his steel Merckx - but he's got a new Crumpton now that I'd kill for. Isn't he the reigning state 35+ crit champion or something like that?

Yeah, that's Greg on the steel there. He got 5th, as he just fell off the pace when Kevin jumped at 500m. It was all carbon from 2nd-4th.
I think Greg and I together had more spokes than the rest of the crowd combined.
Ravenmore: not sure about the state crit champ. Greg's a great rider though, and rode really well that day.

That's something one of my teammates told me - surprised me at the time. Yeah, he won the 3/4 Driveway crit last Thurs - won it several bike lengths ahead of the next guy too.
