If you can afford a Kurt Kinetic, it is the way to go, but if not, the Cyclops are good units. Performance has the KK on sale, so does trisports.com. With trainers, you really do get what you pay for.

Yeah, those were my options, and I chose KK slightly ahead of fluid 2. Whichever showed up on CL first was my target. The KK has been great though. Never have to think about it. Always works and feels about as good as a trainer can.

went with the KK. the stability & lack of noise comments from users were what sealed it.

Can't go wrong with either the KK or the fluid2. FWIW, Saris has great support, they just sent me a replacement adjustment lever for my fluid2 free of charge. I've also heard nothing but good things out of the KK people.

KK has great customer service, too. I bought my Gen1 KK from Craigslist for $125.00. Shortly after I bought it, the adjustment rod stripped out. This was a known issue with the Gen1 units (grey). The upgrade is $17 for older units. I was honest when they asked me if it was an older unit and bought it used. They sold the upgraded part to me for $10 shipped 2nd day air.

Hypothetical question.
Let's say you just got your drivers license and you borrow your parent's car. While backing out, you bump into your other parent's car. Do you:

A) Go in the house, apologize and tell them what happened
B) Keep driving, hit a deer, arrive at your destination, then text them about what happened

Kind of a toss-up ....

I had an accident about 3 hours after I got my license.

Dented the passengers side door putting the car into the garage. Learned how to drive in a K car, and was in a jeep wagoneer.

I never told my parents. They never noticed.

thing is i was lucky: they were away on vacation, and my paternal grandfather arranged the repair, while my maternal grandmother paid for it, before my folks got back,

you're lucky that when you banged into the garage you didn't choke on that silver spoon.

My sister, on her first solo drive after getting her license, looked down at the radio or something. Looked up, swerved, over corrected, went backwards into a 10-15' deep ditch at relatively high speed (50 mph? Evansville, IN, lots of wide open roads). Car, a 4 door Civic I think, wasn't visible from the road. All four doors were jammed shut. She climbed out the windshield.
