It wasn't pointed just at him, but seriously, how hard is it for people to use Quarq? I'd say like 50% of people on forums say it with a K. I'd be pretty bummed if that was my product.

they shouldn't have named it something dumb then. or perhaps it points to, you know, their marketing flaws. if folks said facebeck someone would have paid attention.
in either event I haven't heard much good about them, particularly from Ex, so unless it actually is what I'd need 170 and cheap I'm holding out for another SRM>

[h=2]Quarq[/h] [h=5]What is 'Quarq'?[/h] "Quarq" is just a hiply misspelled word. A quark is a subatomic particle (which, by the way, is really fast). The word "quark" originated from the 1939 novel "Finnegans Wake" in the line:
Three quarks for Muster Mark!
Sure he hasn't got much of a bark
And sure any he has it's all beside the mark.
Physicist Murray Gell-Mann enjoyed the allusion to three quarks and applied the term to physics, as the Standard Model predicts three generations of elementary particles.Sure he hasn't got much of a bark
And sure any he has it's all beside the mark.
Quarks can have one of two fractional electric charges (+2/3 or -1/3), yielding six "flavors": Up, Down, Strange, Charm, Bottom, and the elusive Top quark.
Top and Bottom were originally called Truth and Beauty, but that got a bit lame after the Truth quark proved difficult to find and folks started saying "the quark model has no truth". This didn't go over so well in some circles, so Top and Bottom became the preferred terminology.

I just bought a quarq. The LBS ordered a quarq/specialized spider for somebody and it is a neat looking unit. They gave me a good deal on one. Looking forward to having power all the time (on that bike, anyway).

36 C3s in the stage race this weekend. Was hoping for more. But maybe will give me a shot at the podium.
My training last 2 weeks has been crap - dog + travel + crash = kills motivation. maybe it means i'll be "fresh"

hmm, I think I'm updated to 1.8 on my crank-based-power-meter-that-isn't-an-srm.... have to check though.
I'm looking for something in 170 to give crank-based power for my track bike, if anyone hears about any reasonable options, lemme know? I've got 130 rings as well as 144, so that shouldn't be a problem.
Re: ToWW, those canadian juniors are FAST, and what's worse, they race really cohesively. Big problems for the not-so-organized US teams.
Have ridden my bike exactly once since last weekend's stage race, our home race is this weekend and I really want to win. eh, we'll see how this goes.

Vaporware to your East Podunk LBS. They are real and they are in the field today.

Stages are a direct seller. I'm not sure you could even get it in a bike shop.
I'm not sure how you could refer to something 15 miles from the GW bridge as 'east podunk.'
Everything they have is 'unavailable.' You can not go on their website and buy anything. So there is stuff in the field, but certainly not everything and everything on their site. And it's really unclear how much of this stuff they produced or when they'll be able to ship anything else.
I signed up for notification on availability a long time ago. Still unavailable.

Hida, There is a Quarq solution for track using an adapter plate. One of the racers at VSC has it and says it works perfectly. He purchased the Quarq and the adapter plate and calibrated the power meter himself. You can buy the adapter and send it to Quarq and they will do the assembly and calibration.
Considering your level of accomplishment and goals, I would give serious thought to an ANT + SRM for track. If you purchase an ANT+ PM, you can do the aero testing at VSC.
