and find ebay sold prices, take the final price + shipping and offer seller on ST something like less half of the fees. So if a comparable wheel went for $1000 on ebay, at 13% fee, offer something like $925 shipped

Mostly I was wondering if paypal was a good way to pay to avoid getting ripped off, but since this has evolved into a means of finding a good deal...
I am looking for aero wheels to race in the hills and generally all-around. CDR was kind enough to give me the breakdown of his wheel thoughts by separate e-mail, but I was seeing prices over there on "new" and "next to new" 303 tubulars that made me think I could take a flyer on a set that I could use pretty much all around for the rest of the season. I also figured Enve 3.4s can come in around the same weight with better aero, but there seems to be none on the market now. (I also saw some 202s which would work for a dedicated in the hills set, but I think those might be wasted on me in the long run. I'm thinking that the sharp corners are more fun than the mountain peaks.)
If you've really got mad skills, I'll pm you a link and the e-mail I just got from a seller and you can tell me if it sounds like horse ****. I'd appreciate the help.

I was just told the opposite. That with the advent of firecrest and 11 speed one can find used non-firecrest zipps at affordable prices. I saw a set of new 404s go last night for 760.
I'm in the market to replace my busted rear...either with an 808 or another 404.

Wow. This makes the deal I am considering look like a rip off. Of course, it may be a rip-off anyway. Damn inter webs.

Yes, the usedzipp site prices are a bit high. I have been hunting in the zipp market for quite awhile and you can certainly find 10speed firecrest for a little under 1k.

Seems that Stingers get shorted overall. I'm a big fan of them and they're relatively cheap.

I went with my gut feeling. I got my Stinger 7 and Stinger 9 off ST. I probably overpaid for the S9 but it's all relative - saving $100 isn't necessarily critical and having a good feeling about the transaction is worth paying a margin. Also the wheels came with good tires.

What's your gut tell you about this?
"The wheels are still available. They are built with cosmetic blem rims and used as sponsorship rims for pro riders, hence the white decals with beyond black hubs. I can't tell any difference visually from OEM Zipps I've had in the past. I bought them from a pro roadie in Indianapolis in December to use for cyclocross but am making the switch to discs for the upcoming season. If you'd like to purchase them, let me know and we can arrange Paypal."
The name in the e-mail address matches a guy with a racing history (and apparently some cross chops if his last finish is any indication). The ad is for NIB 303s and the pics look in line with his description. I'm less concerned about $100 here and there than I am about getting something fake, or not what I expected.
At the end of the day I may just pass. Going with something like Hed makes a bit more sense. Mix and match wheels all up the line rather than Zipp 303s, Enve 6.7s and whatever else I end up with. Plus the Heds are cheaper in the first place, and probably bigger reduced in the secondary market.
