I think the moral of the story is to always try a new jersey out indoors first
:/
sorry about hitting the deck, and hopefully it's minor.

First day on the bike after a few days off - zone 2 workout with max intensity interval sprints for 30 seconds to 1 minute, or do zone 2 workout with longer 3-5 minute intervals at a zone 4 intensity?
Edit: 10 sets of 3 minute intervals or 3 sets of 10 minute intervals?

AAAARGH! Finally starting to feel like I am getting my legs back, looking forward to crits starting up this month, and I scored a long sleeve Gabba jersey off of eBay. Thought I would try out the Gabba, headed out for a dawn patrol ride in the hills.
All was going well, it was raining but the Gabba was doing its job. I realized that I was running a few minutes behind, so I went to do a u-turn and head for home after finishing the hill I was on. And somehow, wiped out at around 5km/h, about 3/4 through the turn. WTF. Anyhow, seem to have messed up my left thumb/wrist when I landed, I am really hoping it turns out to be a sprain and not a break. Swelling, loss of motion, and tenderness, check. FRACK!
Worse comes to worse, there is always the trainer with a wrist injury, I guess.

6 x 1 min max last night. Have never really done those before. Couldn't figure out how best to do the effort. Paced, no pace, full on then blow and survive to the end, slightly easier start and try to carry it, idk. They hurt and my avg watts were all over.

Practice crit, absolute devastation. Didn't sleep well last night due to allergies and went in fatigued and not expecting much. At the start, none of the heavy hitters were there so I thought it would be an easy day....nope. It was really windy, and the front of the pack would hammer it out on the crosswind section, and anyone not in the echelon was getting dropped. One of the teams was running a pretty well timed paceline and just obliterating the pack. The front had a train going and riders were falling off the back after taking pulls like it was the final stage of the TdF. When I tacked back on 3 guys broke off and the pack was down to about 20 guys, the other 2/3 somewhere off the back.
It was one of the those days where I wanted to throw my bike as hard as I could. I was more disappointed in myself because although I was fatigued due to a lack of sleep, I quit way too easy. At least half the group ride had the same disgust I did.

Went out in the 90 degree heat for 80 minutes an did a bunch of short and extra short sprints. Haven't gone out just for sprints in a while, and its amazing how much more "jumpy" the legs are when rested.
At a light I came up on a guy riding in normal clothes and platform pedals, and a similarly casual tandem with a loud speaker box on the back so naturally I started bunnyhopping to the beat. (Noticed my left lever needs to be tightened before racing Cat's Hill!) Anyway, the light turned green and I figured I'd blow past these folks... haha wow they were flying, I had to push over 300 watts just to pass! The tandem dude rang his bell as I passed. Ha it was pretty entertaining

Fatboy Intervals. Wow, those suck. But at least they get shorter.

Making a kilometer blurry
What's really crazy is that we had highs in the low 70s in Austin for the last couple days. I would think we'd be seeing 95 consistently these days.

i fell over at a stop light between Christmas and new year (go ahead laugh) and landed on my wrist, I think I maybe fractured it but never went to the doctor. I had the same swelling and painful to move my fingers, it was hard to shift and pull on the brakes but I ended up taping my hand up with kinesio tape until the swelling went down. It hurt for a couple months, I finally was able to put my full weight on my hand and do push ups about a month ago.
maybe the Gabba jersey has bad ju ju?

I am due for a recovery week soon anyhow (my training cycle is a bit messed up at the moment), might take it easy for a few days and see how it feels. Feeling very relieved.
And bite your tongue re: the Gabba jersey! It is probably one of the best pieces of kit I have for spring racing (and most of the upgrade points that are up for grabs seem to come early in the season where I live). And I scored it for just a hair less than $100, including shipping. I have watched more of said cartoon than I would like (with my 6 year old), I prefer to think of it like this:
I might just be too much of a boring Dad to be fooling anybody but myself tho.

Yesterday: 20mins at 33W avg, on the trainer
Today: 11 mins when I woke up at 28W avg. Later in the afternoon another 6 mins at 40W. And right before I sat down I just did another 13mins at 38W.
Something felt weird in the morning so I stopped. I got up and stretched a bit and felt better. Feel normal now. I feel like I can hammer harder but I dont want to push it. Going to keep at it sub 50W for the next two weeks then slightly bump it to maybe 70'ish W.
My shins and knee feel sore, since I havent been walking and just using crutches I think my left leg is confused as to whats going on now lol.

2 hours in the blistering heat. Intervals today, but traffic, descents, and debris made it a total ***show. There really aren't many straightaways around here that are flat and you can just go for miles, we have maybe two and both those are shoulderless and infested with cars going 70+. Typically around here you are either going uphill or downhill.
I tend to overplay my failures and downplay my successes. Best 5s wattage on Thursday, best 15s wattage today.
