I am new at this stage race stuff. Being an Omnium would imply the overall is points based and not time? It also would explain why you can sign up for a single event individually?

+1. The Tour de France used to be scored on points, Back In The Day. Excluding stage races for being scored on points seems silly. Excluding them for being true omniums (no requirement to finish each stage) is fair enough.

I'm just including races that are stage races. They can be points or time, as long as they are true usac stage races, and it is required for each rider to finish each stage.
edit: Just doing this to separate out the real/true stage races. There are a lot of points and a different experience when doing a stage race vs. an omnium, or a weekend series of racing. I know to a lot of people that is desirable!

I'm wondering, how do stage races work regarding upgrading from 5 to 4. I know I need to finish 10 mass start races. So in a stage race that consists of a RR, TT, and crit, would the RR and crit both count as a race, or is the whole thing just counted as 1 race?

You would get 2 starts. RR and Crit. TT would not count and Stage Race as a whole would not count.
