Are you planning to partake in the River Ride World Championship next Sat?

BTW, on rare occasions the sun comes out there and the locals tend to panic. Stay calm and assure them that's it's not an Al Queda attack.

If you want some local flavor/history ride up Quintera street to 23rd avenue. Then turn around and imagine driving a 1972 Chevy Kingswood Estate station wagon down those hills at 60 MPH.

Thanks for the tips REx. I'll probably just bring my road bike since space will be limited and the GF's family will be the focus of my time.

Abraham Lincoln your Alma Mater?

I'll be up there next week as well in Pacifica. I'm probably going to ride up Skyline into the city or up Mt San Bruno.

Thanks - San Bruno looks interesting. How do you get over there from the Ocean Beach area?

Class of 77. What it lacked in academics it made up for in drugs and violence.

Possibly. I would just sit in. I haven't been on a River Ride since August, so I wouldn't be in any shape to drive the train.

Norcal folks -

I'll be spending most of Thanksgiving weekend in SF, and I'll have my bike (and some access to a car). I think I'll be staying close to Ocean Beach, but I'm not quite sure. Any recommendations on where to ride? I hope to get out for a couple rides of 2 - 3 hours each some time Thursday through Saturday. Where is the place to go from there? Over the Golden Gate and into Marin?

Thanks for the help.

Mt. San Bruno route (+Twin Peaks)
Headlands loop (with the stuff Ex suggested)
Or if you want something a bit more substantial: 4 corners + Muir + Hwy1

Might do the HOP medium in Danville again tomorrow, unless teammates have something else planned. Anyone here do that ride?

i'm out there once/twice a month on average on a white CAAD10/blue BBC kit.

if you mean 2-3hrs on the bike but can tag on a little more travel time, consider riding to Daly City or Balboa Park BART and take the Pittsburg/Baypoint train to Pleasant hill BART and go climb Mt Diablo. From BART to the summit and back will likely be a little over 2hrs (unless you're an uber climber) - hour to hour 20 climb to summit. 30mins descent. Add in noodling time at the top to take in the views and 15mins to and 15mins from the park gate. Can send a route if you're interested.

Mount Ham on thanksgiving morning. It's tradition.

Was thinking of some south bay stuff but figured it'd need the car. Lots of options open up if the OP has access to a car.

I'm on the gulf orange/blue caad10 in the red/black/white Fremont kit

I'll be sure to say hello next time

yeah, that was me. I remember your bike too (funnily enough) - should be easy enough to locate one another ;-)

Anyone know of a Thanksgiving and/or black Friday ride in the peninsula?

mattm 11-27-13 01:46 PM

I think lots of folks are doing Mt Hamilton tomorrow, but I guess that's not technically the Peninsula..

I'm thinking of riding over there but that may be a bit much too early in the day to be fun.

Doing Spectrum again on Saturday?

Ygduf 11-27-13 01:50 PM

Low Key on Thursday at Hamilton. Will do a few hours Friday morning from Redwood City. Maybe Spectrum again saturday (no other place to use aero helmet!), and a-ride Sunday.

caloso 11-27-13 02:03 PM

Sacto folks: Thanksgiving ride to Rancho Murrieta. Leaves from the Bella Bru parking lot 8am sharp. About 50 miles round trip, socializing pace.

aaronmcd 11-27-13 02:10 PM

I don't know if I want to do a timed climb tomorrow - still recovering from being a bit sick. Maybe I'll ride with the meetup group - not too fast paced.
Friday - ??? Maybe long slow solo ride
I'll probably do Spectrum on Saturday.

Want to get up to SF and do roasters one of these weeks.

UmneyDurak 11-27-13 03:39 PM

Didn't want to hijack another thread too much, but mattm post got me thinking. Do Early birds crits in CAT4 count towards upgrade if you get points? I know they used to cat toward ten mas starts for 5s, but then I heard it changed.

Hermes 11-27-13 03:47 PM

Mount Hamilton for me.

I am tempted to join in on this one but would probably join along the way.

Do they not count for 5 → 4 upgrade?

Low Key?

Did my recovery ride today. Around 20 miles in 78 minutes. Was thinking well, tomorrow will be shorter by 2.5x the effort. :/

Hermes 11-27-13 04:17 PM

Yes, LKHC.

I'm pretty sure they count for everything except 2->1 upgrades. At least I thought so.

And for cat 5's I think you get bonus points/starts for doing the clinics too.
