I've said it before and I'll say it again. USAC should do what I say!
The USAC upgrade rules don't make much sense. Upgrade points in a road race for 3rd of 5 (40%), or 6th of 11 (45%). But nothing for 8th of 49 (84%) or 10th of 125 (92%).
Why not just make it a percentage? N/5 points for winning a race of N starters, N/5-1 points for finishing 2nd, N/5-2 points for finishing 3rd, etc, until you get down to zero points.

Who really cares though. It's silly, but there's no harm or foul. And they allow scrubs like me to work the system to achieve ultimate BF credibility in a year.

Ha ... was thinking about San Ardo 30-34 when there was just 1 other guy in the mix. Even then I was on the fence because it would be a looooong haul to get down there (4+ hours with an 8AM start time). Now I see there is a Cat 1 and fudgy in the mix, so I'm quickly falling onto the not going side of the fence. I can get my teeth kicked in for free at Coffee Republic. Might do Red Kite instead.
From what I've read, the course is flattish, but high probability of flats?

Shoot...I'm more of a crit guy so all I'd do is sit on your wheel and give him a bigger draft. I have a few more hours to sign up and am still pondering. The other Cat 3 in the race looks to have some decent results. I've got to assume if only 4 sign up they'd combine fields and then "pick separately"?

If you really wanted to help me out all you do is get in front of the guy and let gaps open and make him chase up. Or when I make my 40-mile TT you sit in and disrupt the chase. That's all. I hope riding a road bike with 90 front/ disk back doesn't give my play away!

Also if the points system was broken, nobody would be upgrading!
Ha just wait. I think once you hit cat 2 your credibility on BF really tanks, and cat 1 is even worse. Nobody listens to me!

Red Kite sounds appealing. It will depend on how tomorrow's ride goes because tonight sucked.
Rear derailleur was all over the place after crashing at Dunnigan. I thought I had it all tuned up, but was a bit off and about 15 miles in it was skipping all over. Had to pull over to tweak and then lost the group.

Ha...made some quick parking lot adjustments and thought I had it fixed, but was waaaay off. My mistake was tightening and only running through a few of the gears in the cassette. Didn't check the climbing ones

Hmm I might to Henleyville RR, if weather is good. There are words flat in the title and description. Sounds like my type of RR.

I did Henleyville last year when I had crap fitness and feared hills (I still have crap fitness). I was fine and you'll do fine. 4 laps with one small roller into the feed zone and some wind. The finish is on a "hill" that is just a little punchy climb. We got a little bumpy coming into the finish and I ended up in the shoulder, didn't crash but lost any and all position. I'm pretty sure I'll do it again this year.

Is it actually happening? I checked a few weeks ago and it was not listed on the usac site and the rd didn't respond to an inquiry. I would like to go back. Not sure if this is the year, though.

Cripes ... I hate people (in a good way) that have so much talent. Was talking with a guy post Dunnigan that started racing road this year. I looked at his USAC and he started as a 5 in like March, is currently a 3 and has half his points to upgrade to a 2 after ~20 total races

^^ yea. Looks like he was at the race I won and lost.
I hate the new USAC Results page. It doesn't list a rider's category on the rider result page, and when you go into the race page you have to expand all the possible categories to ctrl-f someone. It's 100% worse.
