I think it's like 60/40 that I will be. But I am friends with too many Squadra guys to say no if they invite me AND my teammate. No teammate though and we're both going ot Halo.
I like Jeff a lot too back from when we were both on Alto Velo. That's a bonus.

If anyone is interested in doing the Low Key tomorrow, I'll have a group of people starting from my home in Redwood City.
Jandro, Aaron, etc. This is good for you guys. A tour of shorter steeper hills.

i have a stravalaza kom from a motorpacing session like 3 years ago. I'm over 3 mph faster than everyone, and i stopped mid way through to tell my dad he needed to pick it up. Kom's are silly and funny. If i ever took my tt bike out i could probbaly grab all of them in no time! #gottacatchemall #pokemon

This should tell you that Strava has little to do with racing!

I'm not sure where you got the idea that Strava is anything more than a more interesting and social Garmin Connect.
I use it to track training, meet people, and test myself (against my own and other people's times) on bits of road. It is what you make of it.
For all the thrashing and wailing about how Strava is not racing, I've never actually seen anyone say that it is. I have, however, seen you come in and post reports that you won this-or-that sprint on Spectrum, which is also very much not racing.

The nice thing about Strava is its changed the way many riders train. A lot of us use segments as intervals and not be so focused on the overall time. The KOM stuff is nice to follow, but that's about it.

I enjoy going up against other people in real time, having to position yourself and deal with tactics, luck (or lack thereof), teamwork, etc. Cluster**** group rides like Spectrum at least give me something like that. Plus they have crashes, which makes them way more closer to racing than Strava!
Btw I saw a guy in a Strava kit the other day, and thought about asking him "what's a Strava?" to see how he reacted. Maybe next time.

+31 others. Losers, amirite.

You can not participate or prefer other things, but the uninformed ragging on it is like going to a food forum and complaining about cheese each and every time it comes up.

Vociferously defending Strava by showing that "real" racers use it is as subject to ridicule as vociferously denouncing Strava because it's not real racing.
I pour my disdainful ridicule on both your houses.
Like an annoying ex-wife, the best thing to do with Strava is to simply ignore it.

I'm not defending anything. I am *****ing directly about hypocrites who who think racing makes them better than non-racers so much so that they can are weirdly threatened by this fuzzy middle-ground social group of people who race clocks via GPS tracks.

What's that got to do with Phipps?
One could also say that the fuzzy middle ground users (Stravitologists) are threatened by racers (Racers) hating on them. I think that would be accurate given the knee jerk reaction by the users any time anyone here pokes even mild fun at Strava.
There's certainly an under current of dead seriousness to some people's pursuit of KOM's to the point of, quite literally, death. Last time I checked gregarious social clubs don't hit cars head on trying to break records. Though admittedly, I'm kinda anti-social so my sampling is limited.
And I'd bet large amounts of cash that the coffee shop conversation amongst a group a Stravatologists is every bit as tedious as a group of cat 4 racers. Or Cat 2's. Cat 1's don't talk about racing. Fight club and all that.
Linguistic clarification: People who think they are better because they race aren't hypocrites. Hypocrites say one thing, then do the other. What you're looking for is Stravaaters.

Only grabbed his ride because I knew I could find it. Point was more that in that single Nats RR there were 34 guys who understand you can race, and you can enjoy Strava, and enjoying one is not exclusive of enjoying the other.
I promise not to mention it again until someone randomly goes off about how they don't like it.
