Armstrong out of Paris Nice
Lance Armstrong will not take the start of the fourth stage of Paris-Nice, as the cold, snowy weather and fatigue from jetlag has caught up with him. Discovery Channel press spokesman Jogi Muller told Cyclingnews on Wednesday evening that Armstrong will return to his home base in Girona tomorrow and will re-evaluate his race program based on how he feels.
Armstrong had a lacklustre start to his European season and was lying in 62nd place after today's stage. In comparison, he last raced Paris-Nice in 1999, when he finished 61st overall. But that year marked the first of his record six Tour de France wins. For those you who follow racing or race, you can see just by looking at Armstrong he is not fit and carrying many kilos of extra weight. Seems he is suffering from Jan syndrome this winter. My prediction, actually Jens Voigt's predition, is Lance will not start the Tour this year. He is too far away from his form to make it happen. You heard it here first. |
Well, I saw that on paceline, and i think that theres something about his game, right now i hate to say it he looks way off his game. I think that eithor he is just doing this for training or somethings not right. I think he may kick his own ass in the months before the tdf though. Seems fishy

actually I heard it from Jens first, here second, and probably a million more times to come.

Any pics of his doughboy-ish figure???

He is either suffering from Jan syndrome or maybe from eating to much crowe?!
When anyone has been on the top of their game, the only way left is down. |

Sheesh, it's only early March. He's probably still in the early training stages and used the race as a test of his training level. It's a looooooooooooong way to July. He's no porker. He'll be in tip top shape by mid-May.

So the guy can make it to the freakin' moon but can't finish a stupid bike race?? We are talking about the same guy, right? |
I suppose everyone will blame the suit for making him look bulky in that picture as well?
|
Yup, a fifteen second glance at a video tape made on March 8th is all someone needs to judge how fit a rider will be by June or July. Ain't nothing gonna happen during three long months of training that might change things. Geez...
If someone is in their very BEST form of the year on March 8th, I don't think we will see much from that rider come July. |
Um BOOOO Why the heck would he finish? His comment was that he just wanted to do better than last and he was in the top half of the field last time I checked. Why not finish the race? If he is sick I get it but if he is just jet lagged get your butt on the bike....and I am a fan. :(

One of the most important lessons seasoned cyclists learn is when less is more. Rest is just as important as training...."what's good is bad and what's bad is good". With that said I predict that Lance will be defeated because he is more satisfied with his life than before. I think he will be missing that little edge he has had over others and that someone else will want it just that little bit more. Perhaps his condition reflects that more than anything. I will accept bets to that effect...hehe....although I would not be surprised to see him prove me wrong either because of his will to win and the strength of his team. Gee...I wonder if there will be any takers for LA in the 2005 TDF???? |
