It's so pretty out, I think I'm going to ride my stupid bike through cold puddles.

Edit: **** that, it's a trainer day.

I don't think it ever even rained at the fairgrounds. I totally blew the call.

Weather was calling for 100% chance of rain for the entire duration of the race. I guess 100% does not mean what I think it means.

I rode outside like some sort of neanderthal. It stopped raining like...20 minutes ago here? Something like that.

thank you! i think raced together/scored separately is terrible (my opinion) from a racer's perspective. if we're going to race together, the winner should be the one who crosses first; otherwise too man b.s. tactics come into play.

it's a bit early, but the weather.com guys are predicting a change. i'm hoping for tough conditions, personally.

It's always best to keep fields separate for that reason. Sometimes you don't have a choice, but nobody likes it when you combine fields.

Weather is predicted in the 50s. Hopefully it'll be sloppy. 'Better photos... .

I previewed the course 2 weeks ago. None of the roads had snow or ice on them. There was a little bit of snow on the side of some of the roads. Some of the dirt roads were muddy, almost peanut butter like. Not as bad as the actual race itself last year, though. With the forecast shown above, a sunny 70 degree day should firm those sections up quite a bit.

orchard beach - $40 and 35 minutes for masters. It'll be $50 by the time there's a weather forecast out.

Jeepers. I couldn't afford to race regularly at the latter price. I'd just do the $15 Tues night races. Or try to volunteer and work off my entry.

Harlem crit is $45 for 15 laps in the 3/4. Considering how fast that race was last year, you're basically paying $45 for 35-40minutes of racing. Not including tolls, gas, etc. Best part, race isn't till June. My guess, it will be $60 by the time June rolls around

I'm not sure CRC is doing Harlem this year.

But yeah, some of this stuff doesn't make a lot of sense to me and I'm thinking of skipping a bunch of these super short ones.

Half the field will only be racing for 15-20 minutes. Then add in the tegaderm cost.

According to this it's not CRCA, but it is happening. And there's a masters field unlike last year.

But, 15 laps?! Lap time is like 100 seconds. That's a 25 minute race. We did 30 laps last year. Has to be a mistake right?

somerville is a longer course than harlem. much longer.

sounds like a good weekend to focus on the gyro du cello for those who can. I guess I'll punt and not race that weekend.

The only nice part about the 'stage race' in jersey is that i can drive there from my house each day.

Odds. I'm just saying.

At least it's not one of the two fields where someone can show up for the first time and win the Series (4s, P123). I happen to know of at least two leaders that won't be there so two overalls are wide, wide open.

Branchbrook this am. Big field. Sketchy riders. Two crashes behind me, one that neutralized the race for a lap or two. Finally got caught in the third crash Last lap. We were starting to go hard and someone came around. Next thing I know someone is on the deck in front of me and there is nowhere to go. I go down. Scraped elbows, knees shifters, shattered helmet. Monitoring the head.

When I get back to the start a usa cycling official is looking to talk to me because people are accusing another guy of intentionally taking people out. The accused is pointing at me and saying that I saw what happened and that it was another guy with two bar end mirrors. Nope, I didnt. I saw the squirrely guy with the two bar ends mirrors, but other than that. No idea. As I was walking back with the accused from where we crashed I was getting the feeling he might have been the problem, based on the ranting he was doing about bar end guy, and when I got back to the start others apparently thought the same. I guess they are going to go to the video tape and there may be suspensions.

Thanks. A few small scrapes and bumps. The head scared me but mostly because of the level of damage to the helmet. I just got a CT just to be safe and my neurosurgeon said I'm all good. (In the ER now.) He Asked if told my wife yet! She's in Fla right now so I imagine there will be a rekoning.

I always say that I don't want to race anywhere below westchester. Plus I need to stay away from the 5s. The Accused was touting the fact that this was his third race and he had done well in Brooklyn. Proven right again.

Seriously though, I felt the sketch. I should have just gone off the front or called it a day. I thought I could just stay ahead of it, but when the group slowed, there they come again.
