Prospect Park Sunday: https://www.bikereg.com/lucarelli--castaldi-cup

Maybe farther than you want but you could join CDR in Hartford: https://www.bikereg.com/25010

Also, Rockleigh is super easy to get to from the city if you can leave work on time.

Berger is a good race. Worth the trip. Just be careful in turn two. Stupid stuff happens there. Just ask Homebrew.

When you say the city, you mean Manhattan or white plains? Rockleigh is 16 miles from white plains, 20 or so from midtown manhattan. I'll have my car and am going (probably with the wife) on Thursday.

Prospect park races are early, like 6am start time. If you're a CRCA member there is a central park club race Saturday that I'm doing. It's essentially free, and I can roll out of bed and just show up, no pressure at all. You can maybe email them and see if you can try it out for a day.

I'll be in Manhattan into the evening Thurs. Home too late to drive over to Rockleigh. Thnx. I'll weigh my options. Just wanted to know in case time frees up.

edit - the only event I may have a chance at looks to be Berger 40+ on Sunday, but prob not P12. What's course like? shovelhd mentioned a bad 2nd corner?

Berger is a flat rectangle. the 2nd corner is a bit of a funnel, so people decide to crash there. 2 guys went down in front of me a couple years ago, so I got to add my name to the list.
No real reason to cause a crash there except for sloppy riding.

I am a pretty tolerant guy, but that is the only race I've ever done that was so poorly run that I would not do it again. Details available on request.

Berger. I think I'll be doing the 3s, not sure on schedule, we're supposed to visit family later that day.

ugh. was super excited to do berger then hunter mt the next weekend, but this recent bout of tendonitis has both those off my schedule. would love to be back in shape for some of the late summer races (tokeneke, gmsr, etc.) but at this point i'm not even sure if that's realistic. at the very least i'll be at mayors cup cheering/drinking.

I'll be there, too. I'm pretty sympathetic to how you're feeling, my season has been a bit of a mess so far. Looking forward to decompressing after Fitchburg and retooling for the second half. There's plenty of fun to be had even not racing!

Trying to figure out if/how much of Fitchburg doing or if I'm just going to race on the track Saturday and see how that goes.

I was thinking of doing that race because I thought you might do it. Lots of teammates in the 40+ for race week, so, I'm entered in that race. I get to sleep in another hour :-)

My first race in over a month. I strained a calf muscle at end of May and have been working my way back slowly and carefully.

Hey, Mr. Official Bigshot (i.e., Shovel), is a calf sleeve or wrap allowable?

Mr. Big shot has yet to work a race, but the answer is yes.

I'm doing Exeter and Worcester M40+ and Fitchburg M50+.

Calf sleeve/wrap is fine, and in fact I've seen other racers with them in some pretty big one day crits.

I was thinking 40+ but they're so fast, so aggressive. The 3-4s are a bit more sane. Plus I've been doing the B races at the Rent and those are definitely more my speed, not the insane in the membrane A races.

I plan on being at Berger for some time, not sure how long. The Missus even talked about taking two cars down so that she could leave with Junior at some point while I hung out at the races.

I'm also doing the Ninigret race tomorrow, the last one (2:45 PM).

I do Exeter because I love twilight criteriums, I love that course, and the good times afterwards. I can't win it but I go home with cash every year. I'm doing Worcester because I spent many years in the area and always thought a downtown criterium would be great there. We still have friends in the area. I will race that one for fun as the next day is serious business.
