agreed. could be nice for someone who wants to/needs to train at a gym or on an indoor bike that otherwise has no way to measure how.
then again, inaccurate is a problem.

indeed, I'm learning a ton!
in fact i realized that my chorus cranks need some spacers to work on this bb.. chain line isn't right at the moment (too close to the frame). the osbb is 61mm vs the 68mm i need it to be... (or something like that). wheels mfg to the rescue. thx for the top hat offer, but I found a local shop that'll give me some. I had a basic understanding of how things worked, and then I got a foil and had to build it 3 separate times, and maybe 5 times for the derailleurs if you count the times I crossed the cables in the downtube on accident. |

I've been itching to try Di2 for a long time. But I'm also looking to get a new frame. So I thought I might as well get a new bike with Di2. Works out cheaper that way I figured.

I have everything except the FD for my 9070 upgrade. I geeked out this afternoon by testing and updating firmware on the bench. The battery is charging now.

I'm deciding whether or not to sell my old bike as a whole, or strip it down and sell it as parts. If it weren't for it the fork issue and scratched up carbon, I'd sell it as whole. May still do that with the and insist the new owner gets the carbon inspected. For all I know it could be a minor fix and last 20 more years. Centaur Group, Easton EA90 Wheels, Toupe Saddle, Origin8 Carbon Seatpost, Pedal Force RS2 Frame 49cm.

Part it out.

I just installed s-works aerofly bars on the tarmac, and took the opportunity to clean up the cables and attach the junction box under the stem. Looks nice and clean!
PS. 7970 connectors do fit through the aerofly routing holes. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=406040 |
Wicked clean. Yeah, 7970 wiring is larger than E-tube.
BTW I am back to using latex tubes on my clinchers. |
i use latex tubes on my race wheels. love the way they roll. way to lazy to run them on my training wheels though.
|
Just got a shipment in from wiggle including a set of Conti 4000s, Vitorria Corsa, and latex.
Ordered before I decided to go tubeless. Hmmm... |
I got a new-to-me set of carbon wheels from shovelhd yesterday and mounted new Michelin Pro4 Endurance tires in 700x25 on them. The wheels are about 22mm outside width. The tires measured 24.6mm when I inflated them, and are a millimeter wider today. I have the same tires on my Open Pro wheelset, and on those 19mm wide rims the P4Es measure right at 27mm after having been mounted a month and a half. Wonder if the tires on the carbon wheels will reach 28mm when they finish stretching...also wondering if that much width might be too much of a good thing for a racing tire.

the idea is that with cold hands, thicker gloves, heat of racing it'll be easier to hit either paddle. just nice to have some options to play around with. |

unless you are racing really, really awful roads or are a very big guy, 27s cost you more than you get. it sure is fun to train on tires that measure 27 or 28 at low psi, though. magic carpet. |

so, i think the default road settings for di2 are pretty hard to top, but i did a little custom programming with my cross build. since i have no FD, i decided to reprogram both buttons on the right lever to shift to a smaller cog, and both buttons on the left lever will now shift to an easier cog.

aerodynamics take a meaningful hit when you're in that territory; it's noticeable when you ride various tires on the same rim. even 25s (esp front) take an aero hit on rims that are designed for wide tires -- it's just that it is less of a hit than with narrower rims.

What pressure are you running?

I had no idea you could do that with Di2. That's damn cool. I thought you could only customise the shift speed for multiple shifts when you had the button pressed down.

ETA: After another day and 65.6 miles, front is 26mm wide and the rear is 26.9mm. |
Keep an eye on the bead.

I've been told I have beady eyes.

Something in particular to this model of tire? I also run the P4E in 25mm and they look truly massive in comparison to another 25mm I have.

I tore down the Felt last night. Fished the wires. Ready to start building it back up tonight.
|
Even on my Hed Belgium wheels (23mm wide), the 25mm P4E measures closer to 27-28mm. It's testing the limit of clearance on my 2009 Tarmac Pro.
When #shovelhd had mentioned the bead... I had a strange crash in a race in July. When I picked myself up, part of the bead of the front tire (a 23mm P4E) had come off of the rim -3 to 4 inches of it. I don't know if it was from the crash, or what had actually CAUSED the crash. I was entering a left hand turn, pavement was good, no contact with any rider and BAM crashed and on the ground. Tire was fully aired up. I suspect the bead came off the wheel and crashed me out. |
