Told my mom recently to go buy a Ferarri when she mentioned leaving me money. With any luck that should be 30+ years away.

I may get my dad's mobile home and a handful of hunting firearms, and my mom's... I dunno, clothes she has that were nice in the 80s and a couple ashtrays? Naw, you guys are right I'd rather they just spend it all.

Did final signing with the lawyer for my new place today; I get the keys next Monday. Feels good to be done with paying rent.

Yup me too... Well not really living off of it, but it sure has helped considering the changes at the beginning of this year. I still plan on being the responsible parent and leaving cash for the kids, but I am balancing it with memory building by taking them on family trips. Did it a few years back when we went to the Dominican Republic and I'll do it again this Christmas when we head to Cuba (No I do not hate America )

I think it's important that's there's something left for the kids, I know my parent's would want that. They treated my kids like they were their kids. There were times I swear I had to beat my mom off with a stick so I could take my kids home... Man I miss them...

My mother did alright and should be leaving some behind, but my wife's parents are both loaded and annoying. Moral hazard.

Hmm well. My folks are both self sufficient, there won't be anything left over to squabble over, but they will be fine.

With my wife's parents, on the other hand, it's the opposite problem. The kids will have to fight over who has to pay off the debts and bills, and take responsibility for needy dependents. Really not looking forward to when that comes to a head.

I've used the iphone (5S) strava app before when I forgot my garmin. The accuracy and consistency of data weren't very good. It'd be acceptable for "I'm in this general vicinity" applications, but it wasn't on the same level as the Garmin. For those that want to accurately track distance, speed, etc, I think the Garmin would still be a better option UNLESS the new iphone changes something to improve accuracy.

My eye is healing nicely. Pressures are still up but can be brought down via manipulation. Everything is on track. I am cleared to take a shower and also ride. EASY. That's the best news I have had in a long time.

To the best of my knowledge the estate is responsible for paying off any outstanding debts. If the estate does not cover the debts, I do not believe that descendents are responsible (unless they cosigned or something). Though I'm not a lawyer so you might want a second opinion when the time comes.

That's outstanding! With such great news you're not going to start posting warm hearted words of encouragement in our race reports are you?

A cyclist got hit by a car (non racing type) at the top of my street. Guy was alive, but in really bad shape when I saw him. Pretty serious crime scene set up. I heard the guy who hit him (lives on one of the nearby streets) was taken away in the back of a police car. A bit hard to ascertain what happened though. There are lots of local latin americans around here who bike to work at the assorted gas stations and restaurants on the highway. They tend to ride the wrong way on the road, or on the sidewalks (also in the wrong way). Really unfortunate and definitely gives me pause in either case. People tend to speed pretty severely on the road that borders my street, and the intersections here are really dangerous. This is really one of those 'it's only a matter of time' things.
