Wet roads again today. My new-to-me commuter and pit bike should arrive this evening, so hopefully I'm done riding my nice cross bike in bad weather. Except for races, of course. Looks likely I'll be spending my evening in the basement with a beer, building a bike. My happy place.

Brought gas tank with me and Had locksmith make me a new key. And of course, the key doesn't work on the ignition, despite locksmith's insistence that he made the right cuts given the year, make and model.. fuk..

I'm also lazy. Which is more work, the occasional extra turns of the skewer to get the wheel off or the one time effort of filing them down?

Hold the two keys up together. Line up the "shoulders". I don't know the real term, it's the "stop" that keeps the key from going in more. If it has no 90 degree stop then line up the noses. The bumpy stuff should line up.
If the stops don't allow the bumpy stuff to line up then line up the bumpy stuff and see if there's room for the key to get there, meaning the new key's shoulders are inside the original key's shoulders. If so then you should be able to put the key in until it's at the right spot and turn the ignition. You might find that the bumps line up but that the shoulders prevent the key from being put all the way in. You can carefully file the shoulder/nose to allow the key to be inserted a bit more. If either of the two are the case then the locksmith screwed up.
If that's not the case then something is off. Your original key may be worn (bumps are very different but same pattern, new key is much taller), or the pins (they do get worn after a while), or something else.
Random tip: if one has siblings/parents/kids and they live pretty far away and you visit regularly, one can have locks "same keyed" so the different houses match. Since I could cut keys and change pins, I converted our house to match my dad/brother's house. This way we can get into one another's houses. So, for example, when my brother wanted to borrow a generator from me (after 80% of the state lost power), I told him to just drive up and get it. Also you never forget the key, and you don't have to search around for the hidden key. When we go to visit my brother our key works in their doors. The key type has to match but after that any hardware store or locksmith should be able to easily convert a set of locks. For me I brought the lock cores to the store and it took me maybe 20 minutes to do 2 deadbolts (3 locks total, one has 2 sides keyed, one has 1 side keyed) and 2 regular knobs (2 locks total, 1 lock each).

So I get that heart rate is a very personal thing, but maybe we could get a sample size going. During races (looking on Strava later) I tend to see people averaging heart rates that = my LTHR, with peaks way, way above where I would be dead. I struggle to get my HR to my measured (on a trainer) LTHR of 177bpm on the road for long (I get that this is called being trained). I'm averaging like 140-150 during a race. My brother is the same way. Are all of you 200bpm-normal people?

Like you said, you really can't compare HR with other people meaningfully. My max HR in in the upper 170s (and has gone down over the past few years, which is typical). Chris Froome is supposedly 174 max.

I'm one of the people with a very high max. If max HR correlated at all with power I would be way faster than I am. I think on the track I've seen 215+ for short periods of time. I had a resting of around 45 when well (for me anyway) trained. Don't remember my LTHR, but I think it was in the 170s. I assure you that doesn't mean I'm fast, it doesn't mean anything at all.

Yep, no sense in comparing. My LTHR is about 187 or 188. Max is in the neighborhood of 203, probably slightly higher - that's just the max I've recorded, and I've only had a history of HR values in races for the last year or so. I'm fitter this year and haven't seen anything higher than 194 in a race this season. At my first RR this year, it only reached 187. So I wouldn't give too much thought about coming short of LTHR in races, either. Could be fitness, fatigue (that 187 max was after a tough block), or both, plus other factors like hydration, temperature, etc.
