Still learning the ropes, but for races like the PRT Winston-Salem classic, anyone (P12) can register, right? ...even if it's a UCI race?
Not quite sure how UCI one-day races work (I know that stage races are different).

I've been wearing my glasses a lot more lately - due in part to my eyes becoming less tolerant of contacts and in part to the weather being so gloomy, I don't need to worry about wearing sunglasses.
Anyway, as I pulled in to the parking deck at work today, I instinctively went to remove my glasses, as if they were sunglasses. It took me a moment to figure out why the world just got blurry instead of brighter.

I agree with your take on the requirement. However (comma, pause for effect) if a strong woman rider with results were to send the race director an email entitled something like "Request for Invitation" with a copy of those results attached, my guess is that an invitation would be proffered. It's not like the women's fields have been over-filled, and USAC is trying to encourage more women racers to, well, race.

My new year's resolution that I sort of backed into is to pick up the guitar again, and this time learn more music theory and to read music for guitar. When I learned in my teens (and got pretty decent) I just memorized the scales and chords and learned songs by tabs or by ear. It would be nice to be able to pick up a song book and just play.

Jeez I feel like I know every single racer in this 40+ field. Sure helps that the race is 90 minutes from here. Is this what it's like in California?

Playing the piano more often is on my personal list for the year.

That's a good one. Best of luck.
I'd like to learn piano at some point. I played trombone when I was young, and then guitar for a good while.
Piano and violin are two I'd like to know at some point. You know, with all that free time I have.

Am I the only one who farked up my license renewal and accidentally created a new profile? USAC's beta testing at renewal time is all sorts of stupid.

I can't get any of the 3 people (including me) I'm trying, correct. I don't want to sit on hold right now, so will call later. I normally do this early Dec.

I'm planning on racing Sunny King and Ft. McClellan again, but hadn't planned on Winston Salem because it was always invitational in the past.
I think only the road races are UCI, but if not, then I have no idea about those. May be different for men and women. Promoter should be able to point you in the right direction. I'd just shoot them an email.

You don't need an invitation to race regular PRT races, but you do to race invitational races.

NRC were UCI
NCC were not
Last year Redlands (PRT) had no equipment enforcement that I recall outside the TT.
There appear to be different rules for PRT and gender. Some men's PRTs required teams only registration. I did not see that restriction on women's but may have missed it.

NRC = road races.
NCC= crits.
Back in the golden olden days they even had a U23 UCI race in Illinois called Four Bridges of Elgin I think. That was the only UCI race I ever got to do. It was a good one.

In 2015 - in parenthesis NRC specifically required UCI compliant equipment. NCC (crits) did not.
Many PRT Road races are UCI sanctioned - normally UCI 1.2, 2.2 or abouts.
There is a chart here at the bottom https://cyclingtips.com/2016/10/usa-...tour-calendar/

Ft. McClellan is a PRT race that is not a UCI race. Maybe more NRC/PRT road races are becoming UCI races, but that has certainly not been the case in the past. They are two distinct classifications.

What are?
A PRT RR may also be a UCI race. And it may not be - so you can't tell. Which is why I gave a link showing some were and some were not. That is what I posted in my "In the old days (2015).
Under NRC - in 2015 all NRC races required UCI equipment. That is what the USAC rule book said in 2015.

You realize that the bolded statement has nothing to do with what you or I were talking about, right?

Maybe examples would help. I'm using the cyclingtips link. It seems that all the PRT road races are also UCI races.
Both a PRT and UCI race:
April 19-23 Tour of the Gila Silver City, N.M. UCI 2.2 M/W
March 30-April 2 Joe Martin Stage Race Fayetteville, Ark. UCI 2.2 M/W
May 29 Winston-Salem Road Race Winston-Salem, N.C. UCI 1.1 M/W
PRT races, not UCI races
April 8-9 Sunny King Omnium Anniston, Ala. M/W
July 15 ASWB Twilight Criterium Boise, Idaho M/W

the cx nats course is great, but with the rain it was an all out mud fest today. spent more time running than riding. to their credit they cut out the descent that's now internet famous for today's races. i think they cut more of the course after my race as well to make the lap times shorter. i didn't have the race I wanted, but I know what I need to work on for next year (although I don't think I'll do nats next year. not worth the extra month of training and a plane ticket).
so far it's been a great event. well organized, running smooth, etc. i'm really excited to watch the pros on sunday.
