I've got room.

Honestly, I don't know what the big deal is about the crit. Just a basic 4 corner course. Ok crowd for the pro race but nothing spectacular. It's not like Moline, Athens, Downer's Grove - dating myself.

Feel free to come out and beat up on MJ, DeMarchi, and Coxworth though.

ditto- I've got a 2nd bedroom, a living room w/ floor and hideabed, and decent sleeping loft (5'-11" ceiling tho)

better let me know in the next couple of days tho, or I'll open it up for the race organizers to place folks here.

You'd have to be eeeextra snuggly cause it sounds like we're all full up having just picked up another rider to squeeze into the house.

likely traveling with a teammate (who will be in a different field) but currently have a 3br house rented. deciding whether i want to give that up to a buddy and his family, or to fill it.

cascade seems so far away, and yet it is not.

For those of you currently gluing up tubulars, or thinking through your equipment selections -
Several roads on the Awbrey Butte Circuit course have been freshly chip-sealed in the last week or two.

the more you know.

Any interest in a forum meet-up?

I'm happy to host, or we can find a central spot that'll work for a bunch of racers & entourage (for example Laughing Planet has healthy food, less healthy food, kombucha, beer, and a back room I can reserve)

which sections? doesn't affect my choice, just curious. a teammate just converted to the dark side. QBP was blowing out zipp wheels....finally got him to get some tubulars. he went with 303s and laid down his first layer of glue tonight. (he's been wanting to do it for some time....when i saw the extra discount the other day i gave him the heads-up and he pulled the trigger. racing's a good excuse for gear. )

you gonna spectate any of the days (other than the pro crit)?

The climb up Archie is freshly done. No biggie, no change needed. If anything it may have smoothed out the expansion cracks. Was a little sticky Thursday when I rode it though, I hate tar!

i'm sure it will be all good with a month of car traffic on it.

i think i'm much more tolerant to road conditions than most: the dirt at battenkill is better than many paved roads i've raced on!

should be a fun time. i wish cascade were next weekend.

I'm headed out to do the P/1 race. Does anyone have better info for each of the stages (the maps that are on the Cascade website are kinda crappy - no detailed profile)?

You should be able to find the stages on Strava/MapmyRide - if not PM me and I'll run out w/ a Garmin and record it for you.

The Site had really nice RideWithGps maps last year.

Here is the best I could come up with:

McKenzie RR: ???
Prineville TT: 2012 Cascade Cycling Classic Pro Stage 2 - TT - A bike ride in Prineville, Oregon
Cascade Lakes RR: Cascade Cycling Classic Stage 3 Pro Men - Bend, OR
Crit: Cascade Cycling Classic Stage 3 - Bend, OR
Circuit Race: Cascade Cycling Classic Stage 4 - Bend, OR

Don't see one for McKenzie Pass RR

didnt the fire affect the Wednesday p1 RR last year? That heat + smoke was rough on Thursday!

wonder if they switched up any stages in that field from last year. Prologue was dropped, right?

Yeh no prologue this year, supposed to be RR Wednesday, TT Thursday, RR Friday, Crit Saturday, and RR Sunday.

not sure...but last year's neutral support was a little spotty from what i heard and observed.

TONS of bottles dropped at feeds (one was placed on a fast downhill and volunteers were not trained). it's a tough race solo/unsupported.

Ok...I'm actually guest racing for a team, mainly concerned about the availability of 10 speed wheels as I'm one of the few ppl it seems this year left on 10.

available? sure! timely? all bets are off.

def put a set in your team car if you have one....but otherwise for that sort of thing i'm sure you'll be no worse off than anyone. flats are rare, fortunately. i wouldn't sweat it. thought you were mainly talking about water, which can be an issue given the weather.

Forcast looks great. Unfortunately, my team has fallen apart and only 3 of us will be racing. There are 11 Thirsty Bear guys in the Masters race, won't be easy going up against that crew.
Should be a fun weekend still.

Thirsty Bear has some pop. Not sure if all 11 of the guys do, but enough of those 11 will.

We've got a house down in Sunriver and will have 8 guys in the 2's and 7 guys in the 3/4 field plus some guests of riders. There won't be much room in that house, but it should be a good time. If I can get over the rollers in the opening of the first road race, I'll be set for the week.

which 11? Phipps, Piers, Greffath, Brennan seem to be the 4 strongest this year, Jan can finish crits if he's there..
