Next weekend a flat Sat CR (doubling 50 and 35+) and another power climb RR (50+ to win and then jump in 35+ to assist new guys).

Any other 33'ers on here race in FL right now?
Really nice work. You coming up here this season?

At some point I'm sure.
White Plains crit I hope, It's 4 blocks from Jeannine's apt! Is Aki involved again?
And the team was sending an email about doing Battenkill. So maybe that too. I'd rather travel for multi-day events, but plans change.

Nice @YMCA , I saw pictures and I was wondering which was what and what was what. I'll be at White Plains, they've asked me already. Date change, it's a week later due to something going on, I forget what. June 14, 2015

I ride for the Compass Research Cycling Team.
Colors are black/blue.
I also work full time as a recruiter for Compass Research, which means I basically bleed black and blue.

Looking forward to June 14

I knew it was you, I just couldn't make sense of where you were finishing because it looked like a lot of different races. You looked happy, you looked fit, but I wasn't sure where you were placing. I was psyched to see that you were doing so well.

Cal Aggie crit, cat 4
Flat oval with a sharp left-right on one end followed by a couple more gradual turns. Tailwind finish, headwind back side.

60 or 70 starters, including several juniors who took off frantically at the whistle. I weaved through a few seconds of chaos and took off after them. None of them were going anywhere so I just went past them. A lap later I was joined by one guy and we traded pulls for the next 45 minutes, building the gap to almost 50 seconds. I let him pull as slow as he liked last lap and waited for the sprint (he seemed like the type who would chase me down in anything over 20 seconds). Shifted early and quietly, drifted a bike length back, and slingshotted past and won.

Now I have an extra beer glass, a new tire, new socks, and an iPhone case but no iProducts. Oh and most importantly 7 more points.

Awesome work!

I was in the M 35+ 4/5 and was just glad to finish. Talk about not listening I heard the bell and sprinted then wondered why no one else was going. Visions of punching the sky danced in my head then I saw… "03" freak!

But hey least I didn't come in dead last as a few others gave up during the last lap!

Still had a blast!

Crap first races of the season...crap. Same course as Aaron.

E3, Pack finish. Took some time to get the legs going, but once they did all was good. positioned poorly for the sprint and wasn't willing to take the risks to move up.

P123. DNP. Writing this while watching the race (and Fudgy and Matt). Crash about 300m into the race...wtf?! I didn't go down but there was some bike contact and I was able to join a small group chasing back to the main field. The speed wasn't too much, but I was hurting bad and fell off a couple laps later. Pulled out and was talking to a teammate who pointed out my brakes were tweaked. Turns out the earlier contact slammed my brakes enough to push the calipers into the wheel making it a bit tough to pedal. Probably should have pulled out for the free lap right when it happened to check everything over like the others, but instinct was to chase. Oh well....

Aaron "Drop the Field" MCD. Great racing and I liked the way you used the juniors to disguise your plan. And even better yet, you minimized your risk by turning the 70 man race into a match sprint.

Lessons are usually easier to learn from the bad races than the good. I take free laps whenever possible. Not only would you have been able to check your bike but more than likely you also would have been given the chance to get back into the pack

Super envious of your 2-man break, kudos. Tried casing it down for 1.5 laps and the field didn't seem to care about lending strong support. I think a lot of people didn't realize or gave up on the gap. There was a later 4-man break that seems like I pulled back on my own (2 guys gabbed my jump but neither pulled through), and I think a lot of the field thought we had caught the win.

Being the first race of the season and a bit spent I went into "don't crash" mode for the last couple laps, and fortunately avoided the last lap wipeout.

<envy>Hard racing solo. Strava seem to indicate the winning break was 0.1mph faster than the field</envy>

The number is from the speed of the entire race.

Big picture it signifys the ability of a small break at Land Park to win E4 as there is little coordination in the field. A slight wind an slow turn can be ridden smother/faster by a fewer riders than the surging and slowing of individuals. Physicicolligicaly adding .15-.2 mph to the field shouldn't be that taxing to any individual/team. -----edit: average speed was under 25 mph

Total lesson learned. I didn't think much of it at first because there was that little adrenalin kick to chase back on. Once I reconnected it was like instant pain just trying to hang on.

Honestly, I would have just packed it in lol. Being in a similar position its a ton of work which almost isn't recoverable (unless you are in super form). Way to charge.
