Take a strong base to combat the acid. Two tablespoons of baking-soda dissolved in 8-10oz of water. Slug the entire mixture 15-20 minute before your sprint-event and you'll notice your legs won't burn as much at 100% effort. You'll be able to keep up the sprint-effort for an extra 5-seconds or so. Track racers do this all the time, I've known some crit guys as well. However, the effects wear off after 30-40 minutes...

(ps. may also cause upset stomachs and barfing....)
