Non suspension fork and 35 mm tires will provide good speed without sacrificing too much comfort on the potholes. If you find you need more speed and feel you could handle a bit firmer ride, you could plan on switching to 32 mm or even 28 mm width tires when the current ones start wearing. The adjustable stem on the 7000 will allow you to adjust your riding position as you get accustomed to the bike.
