14 miles, 4200 feet of climbing, sounds like Palomar to me so should be an average of 6-7% grade for that climb
I think the average grade for Harding is around 7%, but that's the average. The first 4.5 -5 miles are really nasty, it levels out a bit after that. Harding Truck Trail would be a good way to go, I think it gets a lot less traffic than Maple Springs, it's not at all technical, the only hard part is the relentless climbing. I'll be in for this ride, depending on what date you guys choose. There are several options for the way down, depending on how big of a ride you want to make it. As soon as I get a little better and confident with my technical skills, I want to ride to Harding to Santiago Peak, and come down Holy Jim Trail.
