I am a consultant and I get comped by the company that ACTUALLY pays me (not the company whose site I'm working at) regardless of situation. If I drive and park downtown, they cover my parking and mileage. If I ride my bike to the bus and take the bus in, they cover my fare.

I was bike-bus-bike commuting 3 days a week a few months ago. I've been going more and more that way, and I haven't driven my car to work or to the bus stop in 2 weeks now.

Transportation isn't costing me a dime. I just choose to ride, even in bad weather.
