Don't underestimate them Denver Fox. They are really very good and if a good instructor leads them you'll be amazed at what you get out of them. I managed to spin solo, standing, for an hour.

A lot of little things add up to a good workout, so do what feels best for you. Some days will bore you, make no mistake, but don't let that discourage you. When you feel down in some areas, go to the machines and do routines on others that might interest you.

It sounds crass like a finger-down-your-throat cliche but I start off every session at the gym saying something like this: "I don't always find exercise enjoyable but it's invariably beneficial."

That often motivates me to get 80% out of it when maybe minutes before I was in a 30% state of mind. Don't let the routines limit your potential. Sounds like you are doing ok but look for the enjoyment and benefits the exercise give and the rest'll fit in quite nicely.
