How long before I KILL them?

OK, I don't know why I did it, but I did. I went out looking for some rims to put on my mountain bike for riding around the city streets, and came home with Mavic Speedcity rims with disc brake rotors and a new cassette (11-32). The rims are THIN! They say 622 x 13mm on them. The bike store guy said these 24 spoke rims will hold up for me. I put brand new Conti Cityride 700x32c tires on them. Now my bike looks like a flat-bar road bike!

How long will it take for my 310 pound body to crush these rims? Was this a mistake? Should I ride with knee pads and other fall protection?

The bike sure is faster!
