September 30th marked the end of the
2006 smog season, the five months each year when metro Atlanta is more likely to have days with unhealthy levels of air pollution. This year was the region’s most active smog season since 2002, with 31 days when high ground-level ozone put some or all of us at risk. In 2002, 37 days exceeded air quality standards, while last year we experienced just 17 “bad air” days.
