Our Chilly Hilly ride last weekend saw a 4,000 rider turnout in 36-38 F rain. We had people riding down the road on BMC Time Machines, Orbea Orcas, Bianchi 928s - water flying everywhere, mud spraying up onto the back of their jerseys, wet rims hissing, the works. Hundreds out with beautiful wheels, frames of all materials, just united in one thing - riding - and not caring about anything else. Myself? I rode my steel-framed Bianchi Veloce and cleaned it off a few days ago.

Don't hang out with those fools!
In Seattle....

See, you should have just stopped there - doesn't it only rain twice a year in Seattle anyway? (January-August, Late August-January)

I suspect that if riders were afraid of the wet there, they'd move or change sports

You know what the best thing about a good muddy nasty road ride is? How clean your bike is after you get the sludge off everything.
