i dont know about cars. i have never owned one and ride in one maybe twice a year. how does the drivetrain connect to the cranks? do they just directly turn a drive belt? how could that be as efficient as a chain turning a chainring?

feel free to accomodate as much of your own time to my ignorance as you feel like. i tried to find a diagram of a drive shaft on the internet and it didnt help much to elucidate these wonder bikes... (that are still very ugly)
