Another option: the
Black Heron Inn in Point Reyes Station. It's about an hour north of the city, an hour west of Sonoma/Napa, and right off Highway One. You'd also be very close to the redwoods in
Muir Woods and Samuel Taylor Park, as well as
Stinson Beach and the coast. And if you do get a chance to mountain-bike, you'd be ten miles from
Bolinas Ridge Trail.
