As usual, T-Mar has it right. I worked part-time at a Nishiki-Peugeot dealership from early 1972 through mid-1974, when the Custom Sport and Olympic always came with Shimano, so yours is probably a late 1974 or a 1975 model. I have yet to decode Kawamura's serial numbers, although I recall that my Semi-Pro, purchased in March 1971, was KS78091.
