Best hardtail for 600ish?

ok, my price range is about 600$ right now, and im looking for a new hardtail. Id enjoy a full suspension, but its not realistic, and i dont really think theres anything im doing that requires one. I need a light, preferably disk braked hardtail that will last me a long time. It has to be able to take 4ish foot drops, and mud, dirt and rain (and a little snow if i feel like having fun, im in massachusetts afterall), and still stay reliable. Please help me out!

Right now im looking at the Hardrock Comp Disk, and the Rockhopper Disk. Leaning towards the rockhopper because of the better fork, but are either good? The fork does matter because after i buy the bike, im really not going to have any cash to get a new fork, nor do i know exactly what to look for in a fork.

Thanks in Advance
