you can also go to amazon or another bookseller like barnes & noble, or Borders and get a bicycle maintenance book... not that expensive...

If there is something that I can't do... I take it to the LBS and they usually have no problems fixing it but it will cost some money. but if you add that cost to the original cost of the bike you still come out being ahead in terms of price/value on the bike...
