Running 1.5 miles in 12-13 is quite respectable, hills. Continue to get some running miles on your legs, and definitely make sure you are eating a somewhat healthy diet.

I'm going to run in my first half marathon in October!

Which branch are you thinking about joining? It's a good idea (so I have been told) to have a basic idea of military rank and how to salute properly before heading off to boot (or basic).
