You just have to figure out how to snap it on. Out of the box, mine wasn't snapped on either. Possibly a hint to the bike shop tech to check adjustment of the hub? The lock nut on my hub adjuster wasn't tight out of the box. I didn't find out until my gears went out of alignment. (didn't line up with the index shifter) Something to check before you snap down the cover.

Am I the only one who hates the seat on his D3? What are you guys replacing yours with, or are you just not using it for longer rides? I love this little bike, but that saddle is pure torture. I need to find something not too expensive, too heavy, or too fat for it...

Wire ties are not necessary, unless the part is broken.
