Brand loyalty

What is the role of brand loyalty in mountain biking.

I had recently gotten my first mountain bike, a Specialized Hardrock SD. And after owning it for a while, I have thought, "I will never own any other brand for the rest of my life". The Hardrock just feels so much better than the other Wal-Mart bikes that I have ridden (and subsequently broken because they couldn't handle the trail). Before Buying the Hardrock though, I did also test rider some Treks, some Gary Fishers, and also a Marin. None of them felt as good as the Hardrock. So if someone were to ask me "what bike would you get if you had 2500 to spend", I would definitely say stumpy FSR. However, I know that other manufacturers make good quality bikes as well. So what is the role of brand loyalty?
