As far as the 'leather saddles last forever' saw, I call bull**** on that. In my years and years of riding, I have broken exactly two saddles - a plastic shelled cheapo that was older than I am, and an 80s brooks that hasn't been properly massaged and fed by its previous owner (leather was coming away from the rivets and wearing in the holes in the seat - I hit a bump, and it split like a fat man's trousers). Meanwhile I've talked to many people with older Brooks saddles that are saggy hammocks despite attempts to adjust after less than ten years. Other than weight weenie saddles that are designed to last for a season at best or freak accidents, does anyone have experience with a saddle dying on them?
