Yes, they do, enough that many Shimano sponsored teams in the 07 TDF fit FSA ceramic bearings onto Dura-Ace cranks -see this week's Velonews. Sorry, but bearing drag at the crank matters, low RPM, but high force load.

Shimano is world famous for aluminum forging and finishing techniques, and the Ally DA crank is arguably among the best ally there is. But, crank companies like Time, Stronglight, Campagnolo and FSA that have been making CF cranks for years have produced stiff full carbon cranks that are much lighter. Weight is not a myth.
They only made this crank for the CF trend factor. An aluminum core CF crank is just cheaper to make. This is the difference between Chorus and Record.

I guess you don't see any similarity between those chainrings and FSA either.
