I've got no complaints about Illuminite--I have a vest, and people have pulled up next to me on the road and told me how well they can see it in the dark. You also can buy vests with reflective bands at places like REI or any running-shoe store for around $15--they're brighter than Illuminite but the reflective area is smaller. And a company called Alert Shirt, www.alertshirt.com, makes all kinds of long- and short-sleeved T-shirts and jerseys for highway workers and people like that. I have a couple of the shirts; they're high quality and work well.
When I'm king, it will be against the law to wear or sell the dark blue and black crap all the fashionable cyclists around here wear. I'm 100 percent keyed into watching for bikes, and even at that I sometimes run up on some jackass in black tights riding at dusk.
