you mean to push their bodies forward so there is a gap at back for the cycle helmet knob on the back? Good idea.

But I'm still thinking it doesn't get around the fact that cyclist helmets (including kids') are meant for only one impact... And my kids will be wearing helmets for more than just cycling so I expect they may take multiple impacts.
