My friend was hit by a train in Portland yesterday
I just found out that the cyclist hit by the commuter train in Portland yesterday is my buddy James. He is one of my fellow commuters here at work (Boise) and is always in the locker room in the mornings with us. I Have ridden in with him a few times and he is a very careful cyclist. My guess is that he found himself distracted and disoriented in a strange city with trains (we have none like that) and just ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time. It is possible it could have easily happened to me as well. I guess he will survive but may wish he had not for a while. Anyway, I just feel horrible about it. This one struck very close to home.
