I was actually at that race, as a spectator . . . George Mount was racing there (don't think he's mentioned above) as was Wayne Stetina (who won the Sr. Mens race) and Jim Ochowicz (yes, Och was racing!).
I still remember the sprint finish because I thought Wayne Stetina was in way too big a gear for the sprint. But I was wrong, and he turned it very well, for a close win. I met Wayne probably 15 years later, and when I mentioned that to him he smiled (obviously remembering that day!) and said, "My legs were very tired at the end of that race, and I knew I couldn't spin a smaller gear!"
