The bikes from the early 80's were more or less just modified 'kids' bikes and really didn't do anything related to engineering and structural testing or integrity at all. The improvements in engineering and having actual riders that design and test the bikes that are ridden has raised the quality level, as well as the safety level of bikes ten fold.

I remember when I started I would break a frame once a year - at least. Now, I ride the same frame for several years with zero problems and usually just get a new frame to try something different.

Now, SHOULD YOU SELL IT? That's a much tougher question. If you need the cash and that's what you are willing to sell, then yes. But, I would hang onto it and bring it out when it's time for the old school to represent.
