Actually I had an idea not long ago for a long BMX seatpost that would also include an extra pair of "seat stays" (if thats the right word). They would be clamped under the rear axle nuts and at the top of the seat post. That would allow a much longer and more stable seatpost.
If you don't actually need a folding bike, BMX bikes are pretty compact, cheap and really sturdy!
