Good question. I will probably go with 2 smaller bottles, maybe not quite full. Or if I'm feeling really brave, just 1 large one, full. I hate carrying water I don't use in a race...but this is going to be ~1.5 hrs or longer at fairly high intensity.
My wife and I did a trial ride up MH three weeks ago on the weekend that it was warm and I consumed three large water bottles on the climb. It will be cooler Thursday and I think I am taking two large ones and plan on drinking them. On the training ride, I felt great the last 7 miles and I think part of it was I was not dehydrated.
