Carry an extra tube and don't worry about finding the hole in the old one unless you get another flat. If you are using the smaller CO2 cartridges then you may find that you can find the hole and still inflate the tube again but it will not be a very firm tire. That's okay if the ride home is short. As mentioned above I carry a light weight pump in my wedge pack to initiate inflation, then top off with the CO2.
