I bought my daughter an Electra Townie earlier this year and she loves it. She's never going to ride any more than the occasional trip on the local trails so it fits her situation nicely. She needed the flat foot technology due to physical limitations. She never changes its gears but it does have the hand brakes since she's never had coaster brakes.
The wife of a fellow I ride with recently underwent knee surgery. She's never been a cyclist but wants to ride the local trails once she's healed. As soon as the weather warms and she's completed physical therapy the Townie will take a trip across town for her to test ride. She and her husband thinks it will be the perfect type of bike for her.
I love riding it around the neighborhood. This might just be the perfect bike for my senior years
