Age 53
1. What type of bikes do 50+ folks ride?
Windsor Super Carrera, purchased new in 1979
2. Do you take any special supplements/vitamins/minerals as you have grown older?
None. Balanced diet is a better idea in my book.
3. How much do you feel you have "slowed down" if any?
Very little.
4. How long have you been biking? New, around a while, biked all your life?
Got my first bike around 1960 at age 6. It had no seat, no brakes, 16" wheels. Soon followed by a 20" single speed, then a 26" single speed Columbia that I rode all over the place in central West Virginia including day trips up to 50 miles. First 10-speed in college, then the Windsor when I got a real job. Commuted to work by bike when I had a 'day job.'
5. What type of biking do you do? Long rides, touring, short rec rides, commute, tour, race?
Currently, short (up to 50 miles) rec rides for fitness, mostly 20-30 miles. I've done one 660 mile tour and am considering doing more, unsupported.
6. How often do you bike? Your approximate annual mileage?
Cold weather 1-2 days/week; warm weather 3-5 days/week. Rode 1000 miles from Aug 15 to Dec 31, 2007.
7. Do you do any other type of physical activities - weight lifting, skiing, running, etc.?
Hike, telemark skiing, occasional swimming.
