Basically, the expectation/hope is that Dorel stays "on their side of the office", so to speak, and lets Cannondale continue doing what they know best. Dorel's pretty much beaten the cheap bike market into submission, so now they want to get in on the boutique, independent dealer-owned market.
Hopefully they understand that they'll lose that market (and their investment) if they stifle Cannondale's efforts.
It really does worry me though since the majority of the money in bike sales comes from low end department stores. It would seem pretty tempting to use the high end Cannondale name on department store bikes to boost sales more like they did with Schwinn.
