Mt. biker seeks 1st road bike recommendations

Hey kids: I am an intermediate mt. biker and I am now giving in to my friends' advice; I plan to get on the road to get to the next level ;-) . I am looking at these three models, in this order of my preference, so far:

Specialized Allez Sport Triple
Giant OCR2
Trek 1200

These are the leaders as they are best supported in my area (I believe in supporting my LBSs). I can consider LeMond, Felt, KHS and Cannondale as they are also in the area, but for various reasons (mostly value or lessor support) I have eliminated those.

My key concerns are (smooth) ride (granted, they are not steel) and performance. These are all going for $800 or so my way and thats pretty much the budget. I have rated them above in my estimation of the best ride for the money, as far as the fit, components, etc.

Anyone with long term experience on these rides (or similar), I would love to hear from you! Keep in mind I am buying new, the bike cannot cost more than 850 retail, and I hope for advice pertinent to the brands I listed above.

Thanks!
