I opened my BB on my older road bike, there was no grease in it (good/bad?), bearings looked ok, but also had no grease on them. Evidently you'd get this really loud creaking/screeching noise from the BB.

How much would LBS charge for doing something like repacking? Would it be worth it or should I just buy a new bike. (It's quite old but works fine).
